Ramy is a featured storyteller at NewGround’s 2018 Spotlight Storytelling event.

Every year, NewGround hosts this Spotlight Storytelling event, during which community members, friends, and visitors come to support those close to them and enjoy an evening of narrative and performance.

For each installment, multiple storytellers, coming from across the Muslim and Jewish traditions, are selected to share a narrative close to them with the NewGround community. Typically, these narratives all share a common theme. This year, that common theme is taking risks.

THE RIDE is a live solo theatre performance, written and performed by Ramy El-Etreby and directed by Zahra Noorbakhsh.

This performance is presented as part of Mark for Redaction, a group exhibition at the Flux Factory in Long Island City in Queens, New York.

Mark for Redaction is a group exhibition, from October 11 until November 11, envisioned by former flux resident Razan Al-Salah and curated by Hilal Khalil, this exhibition showcases multi-disciplinary forms of contemporary art from self-identified Kweer (queer), lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or gender non-conforming people who have ties to what is colloquially known al-‘ālam al-‘arabī (South West Asia and North Africa (SWANA)) and the respective diaspora.
